Our Mission

The mission of the Teaching Materials Center (TMC) is to provide curriculum resources and examples of teaching materials for instructional and research purposes. These materials are available to faculty, students, local educators, and the general public.

Our Goals

  • To provide and maintain a collection of books and non-print materials designed to complement and enrich the curriculum
  • To make available new and varied materials of use and interest to both students and faculty
  • To provide instruction and guidance in the use of teaching and research material
  • To provide a basic collection of children's and young adult books (award winners, ALA notable, outstanding children's works)
  • To acquire children's and young adult books that have been cited for controversy or censorship problems to show the cultural diversity of society, thus widening the students' horizons and increasing their sensitivity

Services/Functions

  1. Checks out instructional materials/test materials
  2. Acquires and catalogs new materials through faculty requests
  3. Provides examples of new technology programs
  4. Houses reference materials for research purposes
  5. Shares materials with local schools and the general public
  6. Provides information about its services and resources through tours and training sessions
